Brief Bio


Dr. Gorkavyi is a Lead Programmer/Analyst in the Science Systems and Applications, Inc.
His research interests include atmospheric aerosol and space dust, remote sensing techniques and planetary science. Dr. Gorkavyi has held previous research positions with NRC/NAS-GSFC/NASA, Crimean Astrophysical Observatory, Schafer Corporation and QinetiQ NA. He published a monograph and more than 100 scientific papers.

"Aura"/OMI; Limb Profiler on OMPS ("Suomi/NPP" Satellite)

Aerosols

Dr. Gorkavyi currently works with "Aura"/OMI and SUOMI/OMPS/LP science team on development and validation of new aerosols and radiance products.

Special Experience


Dr. Gorkavyi lead the team that successfully used automated feature extraction for processing imagery, LIDAR and IFSAR data for 45 thousand sq.km (15 counties of MD, White Sands Missile Range, NM etc), 2002-2008.
