I'm a postdoctoral climate change scientist and crop modeler. I study
food security and global sustainability at NASA Goddard Institute for
Space Studies, the Computation Institute at University of Chicago, and
the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). Using global
mechanistic crop modeling, with a special focus on agricultural water
management, I address questions related to attaining the SDGs, or how to
feed 10 billion people within environmental limits. Latest projects
include simulating nuclear winter impacts on global food productivity,
and the development of end-of-season yield forecasting systems. I help
coordinate the Global Gridded Crop Model Intercomparison (GGCMI), an
initiative within AgMIP, and I'm the coordinator of the agriculture
sector in ISIMIP (Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project).
