Brief Bio


Steve Martin is a principal scientific software developer in the Ionosphere, Thermosphere, Mesosphere (ITM) Physics Laboratory. Since coming to Goddard Space Flight Center in 2000, he has been involved with the development of scientific data processing, display, and analysis software for numerous sounding rocket campaigns and satellite missions. He has worked on the processing, analysis, and management of data collected from the Vector Electric Field Instrument (VEFI) on board the Communication/Navigation Outage Forecast System (C/NOFS) and the Dynamics Explorer 2 (DE-2) satellites, and developed display software for the Magnetospheric Multiscale Mission (MMS). He has also been involved with new visualization technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and its applications to 3D data sets and models. Other activities incude utilizing multiprocessor (Beowulf) systems for CPU intensive tasks, system administration, and IT procurement recommendations for team members and staff.
