Positions/Employment

Research Physical Scientist

NASA Goddard Space Flight Center - Greenbelt, MD

September 2018 - Present

Conducts research on seasonal, terrestrial snow to understand its impact on Earth's hydrological and land-atmosphere interaction processes. Specific areas of research include developing and evaluating remote sensing and modeling techniques to improve estimates of snowpack water supply and snowmelt runoff magnitude and timing. Conducts analyses related to future satellite-based approaches to snow mapping and estimation. Uses numerical, field and laboratory investigations to support analysis of snow and snowmelt characterization and streamflow prediction capabilities. Serves as the Deputy Project Scientist for the NASA Snow Experiment (SnowEx) 2019/20 field campaign.

Research Hydraulic Engineer

ERDC Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) - Hanover, NH

June 2002 - September 2018

Perform research in the field of cold regions hydrology and hydraulics to study ice and snow in support of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works and Military mission. Specific areas of study include evaluation of snowpack water supply; risk analysis of ice affected structures; and snowmelt and ice jam flood forecasting. Conduct impact analyses of dam removal and stream stabilization structures in ice-affected rivers. Snow hydrology research includes regional and global analyses using remote sensing and modeling techniques to improve spatial characterization of snow and snowmelt, specifically in how it relates to streamflow and water supply.
